As more and more people begin to make the move towards mobile technology, many are looking into the types of features that these devices can afford them. When cell phones first hit the market, their web capabilities were limited – you might be able to browse an occasional website, but trying to view something that was visually intensive or with embedded coding and programming, such as Flash, was nearly impossible unless you spent the money on the most high tech of phones.

Now however, both smartphones and tablets have entered the world and the society’s popular choice when it comes to mobile devices; this doesn’t mean that laptop computers have disappeared. Many a student, professional, and regular Joe still carry them around. Why? Mobility. Mobility has been a central point as technology and computers continue to provide ease of life for everyone.

Web enabled devices now standard with GPS, or global positioning satellite technology, which allows for the convenience of finding where you are and where your destination is in regards to it, as well as the thousands of apps – or applications – that allow people to study, read, chat with friends, or even video conference with the office or clients.

One major feature for these devices is how they connect to the web. While Wi-Fi is still the standard when it comes to many mobile devices, these days the focus is using the cell phone towers for cell and smartphones to gain Internet access. 3G speeds are now progressively being replaced with 4G, which states to be not only faster than 3G but Wi-Fi as well.

In recent years, the internet has seen many changes. It used to be that everything was done on paper. As a society, we have moved almost everything online. Now, doing things like paying bills, watching movies, and contacting friends, can all be done from the internet.

One recent change is the increasing popularity of email. Email has been around for over a decade, but now, more than ever, it is used to communicate on many different levels. People email their family members, their friends, and even their bosses and co-workers. It has become the stand-by way to contact people. Email is also used by companies to inform customers about sales and promotions.

Another recent development is the popularity of social networking sites. These sites have seen a booming increase in the past five years. Social networking allows users to constantly be in contact with friends and fans. It also allows people to see live feeds of what their friends or the people they follow are up to. Social networking has greatly changed how people get in touch with and communicate with one another.

Both email and social networking sites can be accessed from a mobile phone as long as it has interent capabilities.

It’s all about mobile these days, from smartphones to tablets, it seems as though everyone has something along these lines. More and more kids are carrying cell phones or laptops to class and while some people might find this to be a deterrent, in most cases, these devices can actually be a help for not only kids but parents too.

Yes, while it’s hard to believe, mobile devices can offer a certain amount of safety and it’s one of the reasons that many people carry them around.

Emergencies – have you ever gotten a flat tire on the side of the road? Or run out of gas? What are the odds that some kind stranger will pull over to help you? Especially in the middle of the night? For many people, the ability to call for a repair truck or family member when in a bind is one of the big features of having a cell phone. And in many cases of an emergency, GPS allows for emergency services to find you in case you become unresponsive.

GPS services – speaking of GPS, every cell phone has the capability, or at least the most modern of cell phones. GPS stands for global positioning service, which uses passing satellites to notate where someone is within a certain amount of accuracy. This is a safety precaution so that, as mentioned, emergency services can find someone if they are in trouble. This is also a major feature for parents who use apps to locate their kids.

Apps – a major feature of smartphones is that of the app. While many are for entertainment, there are some for other purposes and some can even help to educate. These are the information apps, everything from learning what you might have thanks to looking up symptoms, but what to do in the case of a particular natural disaster. If you like what you see, keep going: iPhone Case Looks Like Retro 1980s Cell Phone (PHOTO)

It would almost be easier to talk about the disadvantages of having the internet on your mobile cell phone as the list would only be a few things. The advantages to having access to the internet wherever you go is unending. Everyday you could probably come up with yet another helpful reason that you are counting your lucky stars that you have the ability to jump on the internet and look something up on the internet.

I immediately think of all the advantages of having internet on your cell phone when you go out shopping. This could be shopping at a retail shop, or the local consignment shop. If you see something you just have to have within a minute you will be able to search and compare other items of likeness and decide with confidence how to proceed.

Another reason to get internet on your mobile cell phone would be to always have an answer to every question you have. You won’t have the excuse of not knowing the meeting was rescheduled due to the fact that you haven’t checked your email. Nor will you be able to be outsmarted by anyone as you can quickly find facts and random information about everything. Gone are the dark ages when you are not plugged into the mobile web 24/7.
